Breaking News:Kentucky contacts Duke forward Sean Stewart

Sean Stewart, a 2023 McDonald’s All-American and transfer forward from Duke, has been contacted by the Wildcats and their new head coach, Mark Pope of Kentucky.

Along with a long list of universities that includes Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Baylor, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Cal, Stanford, South Carolina, Washington, Howard, UCSB, and Harvard, Stewart indicated to 24/7 High School Hoops that Kentucky is among them.

The 6-foot-9 Stewart attended the elite Montverde Academy for his prep basketball training. He is a native of Windermere, Florida. Stewart was not only a 2023 McDonald’s All-American but he also took part in the Nike Hoop Summit and the Jordan Brand Classic. According to 247sports, he was the second-best player from the state of Florida, the sixth-best power forward, and the 22nd-best prospect in the class of 2023.

Stewart played in 33 games as a true freshman at Duke last season, but he did not start any of them and only saw 8.3 minutes per game on average. In addition to shooting 57.1 percent from the field and 53.6 percent from the free throw line, he averaged 2.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks per game.

In a victory over LaSalle, Stewart recorded his only double-double of the season with a career-high 16 points and 10 rebounds. In a victory over NC State during the regular season, which went on to defeat Duke in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight, he also contributed 12 points and five rebounds.

At his next school, he will be eligible for another three years.
