Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner gives his verdict on Marc Guehi’s injury ahead of Fulham

Though he won’t be fit for Saturday’s trip to Fulham, Oliver Glasner is optimistic that Crystal Palace center defender Marc Guehi will play again this season.

Following a knee injury he sustained while playing away from Brighton at the beginning of February, Guehi has not appeared for the Eagles under the Austrian coach. Glasner assumed his position later that month. Guehi may be back for England’s match against Manchester United on May 6 despite missing out on important playing time for the team during the March international break due to the injury.

Although our sessions last thirty-five minutes, he participated in some of them this week. “We play on Sunday, Wednesday, and Saturday, but those games are just recovery sessions,” said Glasner following Wednesday’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle.

We’ll see how he feels after we get him (completely) back with the team the following week. Perhaps he is in the team for the match against Manchester United, but we don’t want to take any chances. Look at it.

The player’s health always comes first, even though we want him to play a significant amount of minutes this season. Nothing is ever at danger with us.

Following Glasner’s arrival, Palace has improved, having lost four of the previous eight games the 23-year-old former Chelsea player missed.

A strong performance against Newcastle on Wednesday, which concluded 2-0 following another brace from Jean-Philippe Mateta, supported notable victories over West Ham and Liverpool this month. Although he praised their continuous dedication to his football philosophy, Glasner pushed his players to win four games in a row at Fulham.

“We are not magicians,” he said, quoting himself. We just need to support them, and that will help them demonstrate their quality on the field.

The players’ trust from day one is also something I must express, as we made many changes while they remained receptive to our input.

Every time, they put in a lot of effort and trusted our advice. Yes, it’s amazing to watch how well the players can perform.”

Though Callum Wilson’s return as a substitute hurt Newcastle’s chances of playing in Europe the next season, it was a minor bright spot. Eddie Howe knows that Wilson’s availability might be crucial in their quest for a top-six finish, given it was his first appearance in two months.

He’s enormous. He is a key member of our team, so being able to use that option from the bench was a unique privilege for me, according to Howe.”

He, in my opinion, raised our game. It is a huge boost for us that he performed well in my opinion. He appeared powerful, youthful, and resilient.
