JUST IN: Liam Rosenior’s happy with Hull City’s thrilling 3-2 win over Coventry City

Following their exciting 3-2 victory over play-off rivals Coventry City, Liam Rosenior thinks Hull City’s performance was everything he had hoped for from his team.

With just over ten minutes remaining, striker Noah Ohio came off the bench to force home the game-winning goal, keeping the Tigers’ hopes of finishing in the top six alive. The result moves the team to within three points of the top six with two games remaining. The Tigers led the game twice and were twice pegged back by the hosts.

Due to an unexpected touchline ban, Rosenior was forced to watch from the stands. Although he was disappointed with referee Leigh Doughty’s performance that evening, he was also happy with his team’s ability to overcome obstacles and win a pivotal match.

According to Rosenior, “I thought it was two excellent teams,” Hull Live was informed. “As I believe I’ve mentioned previously, I think Mark is an exceptional manager every time I play against his side or have seen his teams over the years, not only at this club regularly.

“I thought the game today was a credit to the Championship for two excellent teams going toe to toe for something really, really special. Coventry were a credit to the Championship on Sunday (in the FA Cup semi-final) in terms of the way they played.”

“The boys figured out how. After watching the first half again, I concluded that my team’s possession play, dominance, control, and technical play were all exactly what I had hoped for. We were up against an extremely talented team. The free-kick (for Coventry’s first equalizer) is not – I’m contradicting myself. I won’t talk about decisions. It’s not a kick off.

“It’s a great finish from Kasey (Palmer), but then we kept playing, kept playing, and then in the second half, Mark brings on his two-speed demons (Haji Wright and Ellis Simms) which we expected, Ellis and Haji Wright come on and they change the flow of the game for the first few minutes, and we see it out.”

Rosenior was not pleased with how the second equalizer was scored—Bobby Thomas headed in when the ball was obviously behind for a goal-kick. “My teammates halted because they believed the ball had left the play. In fact, it had, so it wasn’t even a tough call, and we resumed.

“That’s what makes me really, really proud today because we showed resilience, grit and a determination to get the job done.”
