BREAKING : Ravens RB Finally Cleared for Activity After Career Threatening Injury

Every team’s starting lineup suffered numerous injuries during the 2023 NFL season. On the other hand, no team suffered more injuries to their running back room than the Baltimore Ravens. At the start of the season, starting running back J.K. Dobbins suffered a torn Achilles tendon, which ended his aspirations of carrying on with his dominant run.

In Week 1, during the Ravens’ eventual 25-9 victory over the Texans, Dobbins suffered an Achilles tear. From the five-yard line, he was trying to punch the ball into the end zone. Unfortunately, the play’s outcome caused Dobbins to prematurely stop his 2023 season.

Midway through September, he underwent surgery to correct the Achilles injury, and he has been gradually getting back to playing again.

Tom Pelisserro of NFL Network said on X that Dr. Neal ElAttrache has notified a few teams that Dobbins was cleared to play football. According to ElAttrache, the OSU product appears “outstanding.”

Given that Dobbins has missed 27 games in his brief three-year career due to repeated ailments, the perennial RB is currently a bargain. But he also gains 5.8 yards per carry on average, which ought to be a major factor in teams’ desire to add him.

It’s possible that Dobbins can still get a respectable contract from a team that needs running backs, if his injury problems are over. Despite being only twenty-five, he wants to resurrect his career.

Though the Ravens might let Dobbins depart, it wouldn’t be shocking in the slightest if he decides to rejoin the team. Baltimore frequently combines quarterback Lamar Jackson with a number of running backs to produce a frightening and perplexing rushing threat.

Additionally, the Ravens signed RB Derrick Henry, who was previously with the Tennessee Titans, with the intention of greatly increasing the team’s run game. A healthy Dobbins and Henry would be a formidable combination to face Jackson.

On overthecap.com, the Ravens are ranked #19th out of 32 clubs with respect to available cap space. The Ravens now have $11 million in cap space that they can use out of the 32 clubs.

The Ravens signed Henry to a two-year, $16 million contract, but they may be holding off on making more acquisitions until after next month’s draft. Although it is unlikely that Dobbins will return to his old squad, he might yet receive an offer for a relatively meek one-year “prove it” contract.

Either way, a lot of teams will probably get in touch and schedule visits for the outstanding RB now that Dobbins is cleared to resume football activities.
