Southampton completes the signing of Reading sensational

Thierry Rohart-Brown has officially joined the SAINTS academy on a youth scholarship.

The Under-21 striker Dom Ballard joined the League One team on a season-long loan, and as part of the deal, the 16-year-old moves permanently from Reading to the south coast.

On a youth contract, Rohart-Brown joins Saints and will play with the Under-18s while he finishes his studies.

Academy director Andy Goldie said following the young midfielder’s acquisition that he was “excited to welcome Thierry and his family to the Academy.”

“After a thorough process led by Jack Chapman, Simon Jones, and our scouting team, we decided that Thierry was our top target because of his growth potential and versatility across our midfield profiles. We are excited to work with him over the next few years.”

“Thanks must also go to Mark Bowen and Michael Gilkes at Reading, who have been incredibly supportive and professional throughout the process.”

Jack Chapman, the new head of academy recruitment for the Saints, continued, “Football-wise, we believe that Thierry fits our ideal profile going ahead.

“His general athleticism, carrying and connecting qualities and his potential for further growth excites us.”
