Manchester United keen on signing crystal Palace star

According to sources, Manchester United is keeping a close eye on a Crystal Palace player whose possible sale in 2024 would set a transfer record and benefit Chelsea.

In their first 11 games of the season, the Red Devils have allowed 19 goals, a defensive record that raises suspicions about something going on in the back.

Early on, Andre Onana had trouble with his handling. Onana is allegedly thinking about turning down any call-up for Cameroon at the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations in order to guarantee he turns around his fortunes at Old Trafford.

The aging Casemiro finds it difficult to shield his defense sufficiently. However, United’s defense hasn’t been at its best lately.

Due to injuries and poor form, center backs are once again being scrutinized.

Lisandro Martinez is not playing because of surgery to fix a metatarsal issue. It is rare for Raphael Varane to play through a sustained stretch of games before becoming hurt.

That leaves Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, and Victor Lindelof. Of the three, only Lindelof seems like a long-term solution. In fact, TEAMtalk exclusively disclosed that Lindelof’s contract has activated for a one-year extension.

Going into the January window, West Ham has Maguire back on their radar. Evans, who is 35 years old, is merely a temporary fix.

As a result, there have been rumors of a new center-half to oppose Varane and possibly team up with Martinez in 2024.

Marc Guehi, the star player for Crystal Palace, is reportedly the target of Manchester United.

The 23-year-old and Joachim Andersen have forged a superb center-back connection at Selhurst Park.

Guehi’s £18 million move from Chelsea two years ago has also seen him establish himself as a mainstay in Gareth Southgate’s England squads.

Over the summer, the center-half was strongly linked to Arsenal, and Tottenham is also said to have made an inquiry. However, Palace’s asking price of more than £50 million turned off both parties.

The South London Press now claims Man Utd can thrive where the two North Londoners failed.

Guehi is apparently being watched by the Red Devils “ahead of a potential summer move.”

Chelsea will be alarmed by any such attempt, not least since the Blues incorporated two distinct stipulations in their 2021 sale to Palace.

In the unlikely event that Palace accepts a proposal for Guehi, the first supposedly guarantees Chelsea “hold matching rights.” Stated differently, Chelsea is free to match any offer that Palace accepts.

In addition, the Mirror revealed in May that Chelsea will receive a sell-on clause that will allow them to keep 25% of the proceeds from any Guehi sale.

According to the South London Press, Guehi’s possible departure from Palace would most likely net the team more money than the £50 million they paid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka in 2019.

Palace’s club record sale occurred with the purchase, however it would be destroyed if Man Utd signed Guehi in 2024.

Chelsea would be eligible to receive £15 million through their sell-on clause if Guehi moved for the round number of £60 million, for instance.
