ANALYSIS : QB Dak Prescott Could be on his way out of Dallas Cowboys

Barrett Brooks and Michael Barkann talk about the most recent information from the NFL Owners Meetings in Orlando.

There’s some extremely positive news for Eagles supporters, and it’s starting to appear like the end of an era in Dallas.

After two weeks of the 2024 NFL season, the Cowboys have not made any notable additions to their roster. Fans in Dallas have been waiting and hoping for the franchise to declare that quarterback Dak Prescott’s contract will be extended.

That hasn’t happened as of yet, and based on owner Jerry Jones’ comments, it won’t happen.

The Cowboys have not made any offers to Prescott, whose contract expires after the 2024 season, according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport, who reported this on X.

Despite being in a contract year, QB Dak Prescott and the #Cowboys have a mutual understanding about his contract situation, according to sources. Dallas has not made any offers to Prescott. “We are where we are, locked and loaded for this year,” stated Jerry Jones, the owner.

Nothing to suggest a deal is imminent.

Unusual things are afoot at One Cowboys Way, especially in light of the January ESPN rumor that head coach Mike McCarthy’s contract will not be renewed past this upcoming season.

It is rare to see a superior club start a season with both a franchise quarterback and a lame duck head coach. Furthermore, it doesn’t exactly give the fan base confidence.

Dallas now has one of the lowest salary cap spaces in the NFL, at $5 million, according to spotrac.com. In order to offer the organization some leeway, Prescott agreed to modify his 2024 roster bonus. However, this does not affect the fact that his 2024 cap figure is $55.4 million.

The Cowboys are in a complete hole because of their lack of financial forethought, and unless something Rosemanesque happens to turn things around, they will be searching for a quarterback around 2025.

This news did not sit well with Dallas fans.

We are so much deserving of more than this front desk.

No one loves more than Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones to point the finger at their players for being talented and earning salaries that require real labor, thereby making their life more difficult.
