The players selected by the Boston Celtics on Wednesday and Thursday in the upcoming NBA Draft may not see significant playing time during the 2024-25 season.

The Boston Celtics, despite having two picks in the upcoming NBA Draft, may not expect the rookies they select to see much playing time in the 2024-25 season. Brad Stevens, the president of basketball operations, indicated that due to the team’s strong roster and the anticipated return of key players including Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and potentially Al Horford filling in for Kristaps Porzingis, rookies are unlikely to get significant minutes. This stance is not surprising given the Celtics’ recent championship win and the depth of their current lineup, which includes established veterans and experienced role players like Luke Kornet, Payton Pritchard, and Sam Hauser. The last rookie to have a substantial role for the Celtics was Payton Pritchard during the 2020-21 season, highlighting the challenge for newcomers to break into the team’s rotation.
