Southampton and West Ham are preparing a move for a Hull City attacker.

West Ham United and Southampton are vying for Hull City’s standout star, Jaden Philogene, in the transfer market. Philogene’s stellar performances last season have garnered attention from several Premier League clubs and Ajax. Despite the reluctance of Hull City’s owner to sell, top-flight teams like Tottenham are keen on securing the winger’s services.

According to a report from TeamTalk, both West Ham United and Southampton have joined the race to sign the 22-year-old. Philogene scored 12 goals and provided six assists in Hull City’s Championship campaign last season, helping them come close to the playoffs.

The England youth international’s impressive displays have sparked interest from numerous clubs in England and across Europe, with his current contract running until June 2026. Hull City’s owner, Acun Ilicali, has stated that Philogene is valued at around £25 million, making him a prime target for top-flight clubs this summer.

West Ham United and Southampton have joined a growing list of Premier League clubs interested in Hull City’s standout forward, Jaden Philogene. Crystal Palace and Dutch giants Ajax have also shown interest, while Tottenham Hotspur is reported to be keen on the winger. Despite Hull City’s determination to retain their top talent for another push towards the Premier League, the competition for Philogene’s signature is heating up.

According to TeamTalk, West Ham are particularly keen on Philogene as they aim to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season. The Hammers are also looking to boost their homegrown player quota, making the English talent an appealing option both on and off the pitch.

Southampton, under Russell Martin, are preparing for their return to the Premier League after winning the playoff final against Leeds United. Philogene’s performance against Southampton last season, where he assisted both goals in a 2-1 victory for Hull City, has certainly caught their attention.

Jaden Philogene’s 2023/24 stats per 90 minutes, according to Fbref.com, highlight his impact on the field:

– Non-penalty goals: 0.38
– Non-penalty expected goals (npxG): 0.24
– Shots: 3.69
– Assists: 0.19
– Expected assists (xAG): 0.19
– npxG + xAG: 0.43
– Shot-creating actions: 4.04

Southampton will be looking to fill the gap left by David Brooks, who has returned to AFC Bournemouth after a successful loan spell. Philogene, with his proven ability to influence games, is seen as an ideal replacement.

Hull City owner Acun Ilicali is determined to keep Philogene and defender Jacob Greaves despite the rising interest. Ilicali has made it clear that he values Philogene highly, having signed him for €5 million (£4.3 million) and now valuing him at €30 million (£25.7 million). Ilicali stated to Turkish outlet Sabah, “I want to climb the stairs step by step in our England adventure. We have no intention to give him away for 30.”

However, West Ham and Southampton are eager to attract the talented winger away from Hull City, recognizing his potential to make a significant impact in the Premier League.
