Sources: Newcastle’s attempt to sabotage the Bournemouth agreement was exposed.

### Newcastle United’s Attempt to Hijack Tiago Pinto’s Appointment at Bournemouth Fails

Newcastle United made a late attempt to intercept Bournemouth’s appointment of Tiago Pinto as their new president of football operations, sources have revealed to Football Insider.

Pinto, 36, was officially appointed to his new role at the Vitality Stadium last month after securing his work permit. The process of his work-permit hearing was first reported by Football Insider on May 23rd, shortly after he agreed to join Bournemouth following his departure from Roma. His appointment was finalized 24 hours later.

Newcastle had also engaged in discussions with Pinto as they sought a replacement for Dan Ashworth, who had agreed to a deal with Manchester United and was on gardening leave. Despite these talks, Pinto opted not to join Newcastle due to reservations about the role and the scope of his responsibilities at St James’ Park.
