Report: Sizeable Bournemouth Set Mark Travers Requests Amount During Celtic Interest

While Ireland might lack depth in certain positions, goalkeepers are not among them.

Caoimhín Kelleher and Gavin Bazunu have been competing for the no. 1 jersey for several seasons, with Bazunu holding the edge until recent months. However, Bazunu’s injury and Kelleher’s strong performance at Liverpool suggest that Kelleher will likely secure the position moving forward.

Mark Travers is often overlooked in this discussion. The Kildare native may not have the same pedigree as the other two goalkeepers, but he remains a very talented player.

Travers joined Bournemouth as a youth player in 2016 and has since made nearly 100 senior appearances, including brief loan stints at Swindon Town and Stoke City.

For the last few seasons, he has served as a backup at Bournemouth, even being recalled from loan spells to cover for injuries. He made four Premier League appearances in the most recent campaign and could potentially move on this summer.

Bournemouth Reportedly Set High Asking Price for Mark Travers

At 25 years old, Mark Travers is at a stage in his career where he needs regular playing time, which seems unlikely at his current club. However, Bournemouth is not willing to let him go cheaply.

According to The Irish Sun, Bournemouth will demand around £10 million for the Irish goalkeeper this summer, with Celtic and Crystal Palace among the interested parties.

This fee is likely out of Celtic’s budget, and Travers might not be keen on serving as a backup at Crystal Palace or elsewhere.

The £10 million asking price reflects Bournemouth’s valuation of Travers, but it could complicate finding a suitable move this summer.

Regardless, it seems clear that Travers needs a transfer to advance his career.
