Rastrick is Norwich City’s new Head of Football Development.

Dean Rastrick, the former Tottenham Academy Manager, has taken on a new role as the Head of Football Development at Norwich City. He joins Norwich after a long tenure at Spurs, where he worked for 13 years before departing last summer. Rastrick succeeds Steve Weaver, who held the positions of Academy Manager and then Head of Football Development at Norwich for seven years before leaving at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Norwich City advertised the position earlier this year, seeking someone to lead all football and player development activities in alignment with the club’s football strategy. The role emphasizes effective leadership across player development and various disciplines within the Academy, aimed at producing well-rounded footballers for Norwich City’s First Team and beyond.

Rastrick’s tenure at Tottenham began in 2010 as Academy Performance Manager, progressing to Academy Manager in 2017. He assumed full responsibility for Tottenham’s Academy program in 2020 following John McDermott’s departure to the Football Association. His extensive experience and leadership in youth development make him a valuable addition to Norwich City as they aim to enhance their footballing infrastructure and nurture young talent.

After departing from Tottenham, Dean Rastrick took on a role with the Professional Game Academy Audit Company (PGAAC) in December 2023, where he served as a Leadership and Management Auditor. This position marked a shift into auditing and evaluating leadership and management practices within football academies.

Rastrick’s return to Norwich City as the Head of Football Development represents a homecoming of sorts, as he previously worked at Norwich from July 2006 to June 2010. During his earlier tenure at Norwich, he served as the Assistant Academy Manager under Ricky Martin, contributing to the club’s academy operations and player development initiatives.

His extensive experience both at Norwich and Tottenham, coupled with his recent auditing role, positions Rastrick well to drive football and player development activities at Norwich City in alignment with the club’s strategic goals.
