In their pursuit of Leeds United, Southampton, Leicester City, and Ipswich Town received encouragement.

Southampton, Leicester City, and Ipswich Town have received a boost in their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur’s Joe Rodon as his potential transfer to Leeds United has reportedly fallen through.

According to Football Insider, Pete O’Rourke reports that Rodon is expected to join a Premier League club after spending last season on loan at Leeds.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a highly successful loan spell with Leeds, establishing himself as one of the Championship’s top center-backs and becoming a fan favorite in West Yorkshire, despite their play-off final loss.

Rodon was a key player, making 50 appearances across all competitions and helping Leeds compete for immediate promotion back to the Premier League. He formed strong center-back partnerships with Pascal Struijk and later with Ethan Ampadu during the 2024 season.

Regarding Rodon’s future, he is in the final year of his contract with Spurs as of June, making him potentially available for a reduced fee this summer. Leeds did not include a purchase option in their loan deal, but Premier League clubs are expected to show interest. Despite this, Graeme Bailey revealed to Leeds United News that Leeds have not given up on signing Rodon permanently.

Southampton, having beaten Leeds in the play-off final, have been linked with the Welsh international, alongside Leicester City and Ipswich Town. The Yorkshire Evening Post reported that Rodon is hesitant to start anew with a different club, and while he might be sold below market value, his price is still around £10 million.

Football Insider now reports that Rodon is likely headed to the Premier League, with Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Southampton showing interest after their promotions last season. Additionally, Daniel Farke’s Leeds have maintained contact with Tottenham about a permanent deal for Rodon, expressing their desire to sign him.

However, the report indicates that Leeds may struggle to meet Rodon’s valuation this summer due to financial constraints.
