A proposed trade sends a $68 million bench scorer to the Sixers.

In the upcoming summer, the Philadelphia 76ers will have various areas to address, one of which is acquiring a bench scorer. They could potentially fulfill this need through trade.

With their available cap space, the Philadelphia 76ers have the opportunity to acquire a bench scorer without needing to trade any key assets. One proposed trade, suggested by Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale, involves acquiring Atlanta Hawks guard Bogdan Bogdanovic.

In this proposed trade:

**Sixers Receive:** Bogdan Bogdanović

**Hawks Receive:** No. 16 pick, Milwaukee’s 2027 second-round pick

The rationale behind this trade is that it benefits both teams. For the Hawks, it allows them to enhance their cap situation, particularly as they prepare for Jalen Johnson’s future contract. Acquiring an additional first-round pick for a player approaching 32 years old could be seen as a reasonable return. Additionally, Atlanta could negotiate for a later pick in a year where they don’t have their own draft selection if the initial framework doesn’t suit them.

For the Sixers, acquiring Bogdanovic would be a logical move if cap space allows. Bogdanovic brings valuable scoring ability off the bench, shooting over 38% from three-point range throughout his career and providing both scoring versatility and playmaking skills. His performance since joining the Hawks in 2020 has solidified his reputation as one of the league’s top bench scorers, averaging between 14 and nearly 17 points per game. He is currently in the second year of a four-year, $68 million contract.

While Bogdanovic may not be the Sixers’ first-choice option, acquiring him could be a viable alternative if other plans don’t materialize. According to reports, the Sixers would be willing to pursue a trade for Jimmy Butler if their primary targets, such as Paul George, aren’t attainable. Butler, with his experience and previous stint with the Sixers during the 2018-19 season, could offer valuable contributions to the team’s championship aspirations.

In addition to Bogdanovic and Butler, the Sixers reportedly have four specific targets in mind for the offseason, including stars like Paul George, LeBron James, Jimmy Butler, and Brandon Ingram. If they fail to secure any of these primary targets, Bogdanovic could serve as a dependable role player off the bench, contributing to the team’s pursuit of a championship title. While he may not be the centerpiece, he could certainly be a valuable addition to the roster.
