Oklahoma football is set to host an official visit by a four-star tight end this coming weekend.

Brent Venables and Oklahoma’s new offensive coordinator, Seth Littrell, are maintaining their focus on recruiting tight ends, evident by their addition of three this offseason. While summer recruiting for the Class of 2025 is underway, Oklahoma has strategically waited to host top high school players in Norman for official visits. Their significant recruiting weekend is set for June 14th, with seven players scheduled to visit, including two five-star recruits. However, the first official visit of the summer is slated for Friday, June 7th, featuring four-star tight end Da’Saahn Brame.

Despite already securing commitments from 15 players in the 2025 class, with the Sooners boasting the nation’s third-best class, they have yet to include a traditional tight end in their lineup. In Jeff Lebby’s air raid offense last season, Austin Stogner was the primary tight end, but with only minimal involvement from other tight ends. With Lebby’s transition to head coach at Mississippi State and Littrell assuming offensive play-calling duties, Venables has emphasized bolstering tight end talent.

This offseason, Oklahoma has addressed this need by recruiting three tight ends: Davon Mitchell from California as part of the 2024 high school class, and transfers Jake Roberts from Baylor and Bauer Sharp from Southeastern Louisiana. Despite speculation by 247 Sports that Brame may commit to Oregon, his visit to Oklahoma on Friday aligns with Venables’ strategy of enhancing offensive versatility, potentially incorporating two-tight end sets. Brame’s top five also includes Ole Miss, LSU, and Tennessee.
