His recent MCL injury and inconsistent availability over the past five seasons with Miami further complicate his appeal.
Given Joel Embiid’s injury-prone status, acquiring Butler, though tempting due to his previous stint in Philadelphia and connection with Embiid, may not be prudent. Instead, the 76ers would benefit more from adding multiple role players like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope or Klay Thompson, who can contribute solid defense and sharpshooting around Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
While there might be interest from Philadelphia in Butler, pursuing him could potentially pose long-term risks for the organization’s stability and roster flexibility.
