Nottingham Forest makes an attempt to recruit a 2022 Golden Boy Award-shortlisted attacker.

The East Midlanders have secured their Premier League status for the second consecutive season and are now focused on progressing towards mid-table under the leadership of Nuno Espirito Santo.

To achieve this goal, the Forest manager recognizes the need for several new signings, especially in the forward positions.

Recent reports indicate that Forest has submitted a bid to acquire a Championship winger.

According to Africa FootNottingham Forest have submitted a £16.9m bid to sign Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto.

At this stage, Leeds are yet to budge on their offer but it’s expected that they’ll turn it down as they hope to receive £30m, as per TEAMtalk.

Gnonto was eager to depart Elland Road last summer, with Everton having a number of bids knocked back for the 2003-born winger.

He ultimately ended up staying and had to earn his chance to start, with Daniel James the preferred right winger for the first half of the season.

The 13-cap Italy international finished the campaign with nine goals and three assists to his name across all competitions.

Leeds may be forced to sell

Having failed to gain promotion last season, The Whites are preparing for another season in the Championship and parachute payments have been reduced.

As such, they are expected to sanction a number of sales this month in order to comply with Profit and Sustainability regulations.

Gnonto, who was shortlisted for the Golden Boy award in 2022, may well be one of the assets moved on as he could demand a significant transfer fee that would virtually cover the planned summer expenditure.
