“Not convinced”: Remark made as Derby County gets closer to acquiring the former striker from Ipswich Town

Derby County are gearing up for their return to the Championship after securing promotion from League One last season.

The Rams initially had a shaky start to the campaign, prompting calls from fans for manager Paul Warne to be dismissed. However, they rallied in the second half of the season, ultimately finishing in second place behind champions Portsmouth.

This summer has seen significant activity at Pride Park as Warne works on reshaping his squad for the challenges of the Championship. Several senior players, including Joe Wildsmith, Scott Loach, Conor Hourihane, Korey Smith, Martyn Waghorn, and Dwight Gayle, have departed after their contracts expired.

Derby’s summer signings have included midfielder Ben Osborn from Sheffield United, with Swansea City striker Jerry Yates set to join on loan. However, the club’s transfer activity isn’t finished yet.

According to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, Derby will secure the services of former Ipswich Town striker Kayden Jackson on a three-year deal once his contract officially concludes this weekend at Portman Road.

Jackson, who joined Ipswich from Accrington Stanley in 2018, faced varied fortunes during his tenure with the Tractor Boys. He played a crucial role in the team’s consecutive promotions from League One to the Premier League over the past two seasons.

Here are Kayden Jackson’s statistics during his time at Ipswich Town (as per Transfermarkt):

– **2018-19**: Championship – 38 appearances, 4 goals, 2 assists
– **2019-20**: League One – 36 appearances, 11 goals, 7 assists
– **2020-21**: League One – 25 appearances, 1 goal, 1 assist
– **2021-22**: League One – 19 appearances, 5 goals, 4 assists
– **2022-23**: League One – 48 appearances, 4 goals, 4 assists
– **2023-24**: Championship – 33 appearances, 3 goals, 5 assists

Despite some ups and downs, the 30-year-old forward played a significant role in Ipswich’s recent successes, contributing to their rise through the divisions.
