Noles News: Four of the seven home games for FSU football have already been sold out ahead of the 2024 season.

On Tuesday, Florida State showcased formidable offensive prowess to extend their stay in Omaha, eliminating another ACC opponent and setting up a rematch with Tennessee:

Despite key players like Cam Smith, James Tibbs, and Marco Dinges struggling at the plate, the Seminoles thrived, amassing 9 runs on 14 hits and 9 walks. Notably, they faced tough relief from UNC’s Dalton Pence, who they roughed up for 8 hits and 4 runs in just 2.1 innings.

The victory marks Florida State’s first time winning two games in a College World Series since 2012. Throughout the season, they faced 12 ACC opponents, with Virginia Tech being the only team they did not play, and finished with a 22-13 record against ACC competition.

Key performances included Jaxson West’s career-high four hits, highlighted by a crucial ninth-inning home run alongside Max Williams. Williams also contributed significantly with three hits, including a home run, extending his on-base streak to 20 games.

Pitching-wise, Andrew Armstrong and Connor Hults played pivotal roles. Armstrong matched his season-long outing with 4.1 innings pitched, allowing three runs, while Hults secured his third win of the year with a career-best 4.1 shutout innings in relief.

Florida State’s offensive dominance extends beyond Tuesday’s game, with 27 runs scored across their three World Series appearances this year. Their season total of 129 home runs reflects a potent lineup that has maintained consistency with at least one home run in 60 out of 65 games.

Looking ahead, Florida State aims to capitalize on their offensive momentum as they prepare for a challenging rematch against Tennessee, positioning themselves favorably in their quest for a maiden College World Series title.
