A new offer for a Southampton player has arrived; this could have ended the Saints’ obstinacy.

Turkish media reports suggest that Trabzonspor have made a fresh bid to bring back Southampton forward Paul Onuachu. The 30-year-old had a loan spell with the Super Lig club last season, and Trabzonspor have been actively trying to retain him in recent months.

According to Sporx, Southampton are reportedly willing to relent on their €15 million asking price for Nigerian international Paul Onuachu. Trabzonspor had initially refused to meet this fee, but pressure from Onuachu to return to Turkey appears to have swayed Southampton’s stance.

Last week, reports emerged that Onuachu had requested Southampton’s permission to return to Trabzonspor. It is now claimed that Trabzonspor still aim to loan the player for the upcoming season but intend to include bonuses and a purchase option for next summer. Additionally, there are reports that Trabzonspor will send a player to newly promoted Goztepe as part of the agreement.

Goztepe and Southampton are both owned by the Sport Republic group.

Onuachu had a notable season with 25 appearances and an impressive 17 goals. His current contract with Southampton runs until June 2026.
