Leicester found a star player who was even more valuable than Dewsbury.-Hall

Leicester City would have anticipated that retaining Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, despite their return to the Premier League, would be challenging following his impressive performances in the Championship.

The talented midfielder appears to be moving towards a transfer to Chelsea, where he would reunite with former Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge. This development leaves Steve Cooper facing the task of lifting his team after a devastating defeat.

The 25-year-old midfielder has consistently shone for Leicester City over several seasons at the King Power Stadium. He continued to perform admirably in the Premier League, even during Leicester’s disappointing relegation season, contributing with two goals and two assists from 31 appearances.

However, it became evident during his time in the second tier that Dewsbury-Hall’s potential far exceeded regular appearances in EFL football.

The local talent from Leicester accumulated an impressive 12 goals and 14 assists from 44 league matches. Under Maresca’s management, the reliance on his number 22 was evident as Dewsbury-Hall played a crucial role in guiding Leicester City to the top of the Championship table, particularly during tense moments towards the end of the demanding 46-game season.

Given his contributions and ties to Leicester, it seemed natural for those connected to the club to believe Dewsbury-Hall would remain loyal, even after dropping down a league, especially considering the excitement of winning the Premier League title and his desire to succeed again at that level with his childhood team.
