An intimate look at the Florida State Seminoles from the dugout

Tennessee baseball will face Florida State in its first game of the 2024 Men’s College World Series on Friday night in primetime. The game between the Volunteers and the Seminoles is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN.

Florida State is making its 24th appearance in the College World Series, and its first since 2019. The Seminoles earned their spot by sweeping Connecticut in the Tallahassee Super Regional. A standout moment from their recent games was ACC Player of the Year James Tibbs III breaking an 8-8 tie with his third home run of the day in the top of the 12th inning, leading Florida State (47-15) to a 10-8 victory over UConn.

The Volunteers are returning to Omaha for the seventh time in their history and the third time in the last four years, following their victory over Evansville in the Knoxville Super Regional. Tennessee and Virginia are the only two teams to have advanced to three of the last four College World Series, with Tennessee being the only SEC team to make back-to-back appearances in the CWS for the first time in its history.

In a preview of Tennessee’s upcoming game, GoVols247’s baseball beat writer Ben McKee spoke with Brett Nevitt of Noles247.com to discuss Florida State’s current form and expectations ahead of Friday night’s game in Omaha.
