Holds discussions for both deals as Monchi plans to “go all in” to sign a player to replace the Aston Villa man.

Aston Villa are eyeing Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan as their top choice to fill in for Matty Cash, as reported by Calciomercato. Dumfries, aged 26, served as the primary right-back under Unai Emery last season, and AC Milan is now showing interest in acquiring him during the upcoming transfer window.

Recent interactions between Milan’s technical director, Geoffrey Moncada, and Aston Villa’s director, Monchi, have centered around Matty Cash. Villa is prepared to enter negotiations for Cash starting from €20m, but talks with the Serie A club are not yet in advanced stages. Despite Villa’s interest, AC Milan is undeterred and has other targets in mind aside from Cash.

Should discussions between Monchi and Moncada regarding Cash solidify, Aston Villa will need to secure a replacement, making Denzel Dumfries a prime candidate. If Cash departs, Monchi would be fully committed to acquiring the Netherlands international.

Dumfries, aged 28, is under contract with Inter Milan until 2025, with no progress made on a renewal. Aston Villa has already reached out to his agent to explore the terms necessary for his signature.

With Aston Villa’s financial prospects bolstered by Champions League qualification, they may have the means to meet Dumfries’ salary demands. However, Dumfries appears reluctant to depart, expressing a preference for a move to a top-tier club.

Inter’s asking price for Dumfries is €20m, the same amount Monchi has sought for Cash. Whether Aston Villa will pursue Dumfries if Cash remains at Villa Park remains unaddressed by Calciomercato.
