Georgia football receives a huge recruitment boost in 2025, ranking No. 1 overall.

Georgia football is making significant progress towards returning to the College Football Playoff. The Bulldogs secured the top edge player in the 2025 recruiting class, Isaiah Gibson, according to On3. Gibson chose Georgia over several other schools, including Tennessee, Auburn, and South Carolina.

Gibson is a five-star recruit according to On3’s rankings. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 263 pounds, he is expected to be a formidable force against SEC quarterbacks. He also considered USC before finalizing his decision.

“I have those relationships with Georgia,” Gibson said, per On3. “I am close to the coaching staff, it is a school close to home and I have relationships with the coaches and the team. That made a big difference for me.”

As a Georgia high school football player, Gibson’s decision keeps him close to home. The Bulldogs’ recent success undoubtedly influenced his choice. Although he was seriously considering the Trojans, Georgia’s persistence paid off in securing his commitment.

“With Georgia, anything is possible,” Gibson added. “Georgia is just a great place. The overall way that Coach Smart runs the program, I feel like it is amazing. It’s remarkable, honestly.

“There is a lot I like about Georgia. I have always had them high on my list. They prepare you to be your best. Georgia puts players into the NFL.”

Gibson isn’t the only talented Georgia high school player to commit to the Bulldogs. The team also recently received a commitment from versatile offensive lineman Dontrell Glover. Glover, who also considered Tennessee and South Carolina, adds to Georgia’s success in retaining in-state talent and keeping them away from other SEC programs.
