Ferran Torres will cost Aston Villa £30 million to acquire.

Aston Villa are one of the clubs showing keen interest in signing Barcelona winger Ferran Torres.

According to a report from Sunday Express (page 66), Villa are interested in signing the Spanish winger who featured in the victory over Croatia in the Euro 2024 Championship on Saturday (15 June).

The Villans are expected to face tough competition from other Premier League clubs, such as Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and West Ham, to sign Torres.

Barcelona are looking to sign Joao Cancelo on a permanent deal from Manchester City and want to raise funds by offloading the 24-year-old winger.

Villa will need to pay a fee of around £30 million to bring the former Manchester City forward to Villa Park.

Aston Villa must look to beat other rivals to sign Ferran Torres

Torres would be a terrific signing for Unai Emery’s side. Villa will play in the Champions League this season and they need more quality in their attacking areas.

At the same time, they are one of the clubs struggling to comply with the Premier League’s financial rules, and are looking to offload Douglas Luiz by the end of this month.

If they can do that, they will be able to reinvest the money and plan for the summer ahead. In that case, they will have no problems in matching Barcelona’s asking price for Torres.

A product of Valencia’s youth academy, Torres is gifted with brilliant technical abilities. He can hug down the touchline and cut inside as well. Torres is a fantastic dribbler, can play on either wing and reminds everyone of a certain Spanish legend, Joaquin Sanchez.

Already capped 42 times for Spain, he is already a vastly experienced player. He scored 23 goals in 113 games for the Catalan giants after joining from Man City.

His time at the Etihad Stadium did not go according to the plans, but his compatriot, Emery can get the best out of him. He probably needs to join a side that will give him the freedom to wreak havoc, and that’s why Villa Park is ideal for him.
