EXCLUSIVE: Crystal Palace star expects club to uphold pact as Tottenham makes Eze move

Tottenham Hotspur is poised to kickstart negotiations with Crystal Palace in the coming fortnight regarding the potential acquisition of attacker Eberechi Eze. The player anticipates that his current club will honor a gentleman’s agreement allowing him to depart this summer.

Initial discussions have reportedly taken place between Eze’s representatives and Tottenham’s new technical director, Johan Lange, succeeding Fabio Paratici as the club’s chief recruitment officer.

Eze, currently training with the England squad for Euro 2024, is open to a move across London. His family’s attendance at the North London Derby, exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers, indicates the player’s interest in a potential transfer.

While Eze is not actively seeking a move, he expects Crystal Palace to adhere to an agreement permitting his departure if Tottenham meets the club’s asking price, rumored to be around €70 million (£60m). This informal arrangement has effectively become an unofficial release clause.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner is eager to retain Eze’s services for his inaugural full season in charge, and the club is steadfast in its stance not to entertain offers below the €70m valuation.

Eze’s standout performances this season, particularly under Glasner’s management, where he contributed to nine goals in his last 12 Premier League appearances, have attracted interest from other top Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea, who are reportedly considering moves for the talented midfielder this summer.

Tottenham’s proactive approach seeks to position them favorably in the race to secure Eze’s signature, although finalizing a deal while the player is still involved in Euro 2024 with England may present challenges.

Football Transfers values Eze with an Estimated Transfer Valuation (ETV) of €41.2m, with the potential price reaching up to €51.5m.
