Before the deadline, Aston Villa sets the asking price for Arsenal to capture Douglas Luiz.

Aston Villa is seeking a £50 million transfer fee for Douglas Luiz, with interest from Arsenal, Juventus, and AC Milan in securing the midfielder.

Luiz, aged 26, has become a crucial component of Villa’s midfield under Unai Emery, impressing with 10 goals and 10 assists across all competitions this season.

With Villa clinching qualification for the next season’s Champions League, their financial position has improved with a guaranteed £50 million, but they still need to balance their books to comply with the Premier League’s financial regulations.

Premier League clubs facing pressure to meet these regulations must offload players before the June 30 deadline.

Villa has initiated talks with Chelsea regarding Conor Gallagher, priced at £50 million, as part of their efforts to manage their finances.

Meanwhile, reports from Italy and Brazil suggest that Villa is willing to entertain offers for Luiz if they also match the £50 million valuation.

Juventus seems to be in pole position to acquire Luiz, as discussions have taken place between the club and Aston Villa, with a potential swap deal involving United States midfielder Weston McKennie being considered.

Arsenal has also shown persistent interest in Luiz, having made three unsuccessful offers, the highest of which amounted to £25 million, during the final stages of the 2022 summer transfer window.

In the subsequent transfer window, Mikel Arteta’s team chose to secure the services of Jorginho from Chelsea for £12 million.

Nonetheless, reports from Italy suggest that Juventus is cognizant of Arsenal’s ongoing interest in Luiz and may make a competing offer this summer.

If sold, Luiz would yield a substantial profit for Villa, given that he was acquired in a £15 million deal from Manchester City in 2019.
