Darius Slay gives one person credit for keeping him with the Eagles.

It’s widely known that cornerback Darius Slay came close to departing from the Philadelphia Eagles last season. Now, a year later, he’s shedding light on who Eagles fans should credit for retaining him.

During an episode of the Pulp Phiction podcast, Slay revisited the situation where he was on the brink of joining the Baltimore Ravens after the Eagles released him due to financial constraints. However, just as he was about to sign with the Ravens, he received a call from longtime Eagles staffer “Big Dom” DiSandro, urging him to return.

However, just as he was about to sign with the Ravens, he received a call from longtime Eagles staffer “Big Dom” DiSandro, urging him to return.

“I really committed to the Ravens and was going to go,” Slay recounted. “Then Dom called and said ‘Slay, I want you here.’ And I’m like, you know what, Dom? You calling me, Dom? I’m coming back. … That’s my dog. I love Dom, man. He looks out for me and my family.”

While Slay has previously discussed his near-move to the Ravens, this is the first time Big Dom’s intervention has been revealed.

Big Dom, a familiar face on the Eagles sideline and highly regarded by Eagles fans, made headlines last season when he intervened in a confrontation with an opposing player, resulting in his sideline ban for the remainder of the regular season. Some speculate that his absence may have negatively affected the team’s performance toward the end of the season.

Recently, Big Dom was promoted to director of gameday coaching operations for the team, underscoring the Eagles’ recognition of his importance.
