Chicago Suburban Area Reemerges as Possible Site for New Bears Stadium

The Chicago Bears persist in their efforts to secure a new stadium on the lakefront of the city, despite already owning more than 300 acres of land in suburban Arlington Heights.

Currently, the mayor of Aurora, a sizable suburb located to the west of Chicago, is persisting in advocating his city as a viable option for a new stadium site.

Richard Irvin (R), Aurora, Illinois’ mayor, believes that the Bears would encounter fewer challenges regarding taxes, legal matters, and political obstacles if they opt to construct their stadium in Aurora rather than in Chicago or Arlington Heights.

The Bears have recently revealed their proposals for a new stadium, aiming to increase the city’s capacity to host major events, with an anticipated opening set for Summer 2028. However, no final decisions have been made yet.
