Bournemouth considering a move for an Aston Villa star following a Sheffield United turnabout.

AFC Bournemouth is considering making a move for Aston Villa forward Cameron Archer once he completes his return from Sheffield United, according to reports from Birmingham World.

Aston Villa is obligated to re-sign Archer, triggered by a relegation clause, despite having sold him for £18.5 million last summer. This means Archer will return to Villa Park, but at a significantly reduced price compared to his initial sale, effectively making Sheffield United’s payment resemble a costly loan fee.

It is understood that Aston Villa, open to considering offers for Cameron Archer in the current transfer window, may soon be approached by AFC Bournemouth. The Premier League club, led by manager Andoni Iraola, has been closely monitoring the striker’s development.

Dominic Solanke and Antoine Semenyo are already part of AFC Bournemouth’s squad, but the club is keen to bolster its attacking options further. They have already activated a £13.5 million buy clause to secure Enes Ünal permanently from Getafe. However, Cameron Archer is also being considered as an additional option to strengthen their attacking lineup.

Aston Villa is no longer under pressure to sell players to meet the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations, but additional funds would certainly be beneficial. They have already identified a range of attacking options as potential targets, and selling Cameron Archer could provide a boost to Villa’s transfer budget, enabling them to pursue realistic bids for their targets.

Last season, Cameron Archer did not meet Sheffield United’s expectations, scoring only four goals in 30 Premier League appearances. However, there is clear potential in the player, demonstrated by his impressive record of six goals in 11 games for the England Under-21s. Additionally, he has scored four times in 14 matches for Aston Villa, indicating his ability to contribute effectively at different levels of competition.
