Alex Scott evaluates his first season in the Premier League with Bournemouth

Alex Scott expressed satisfaction with his performance in the final weeks of his first Premier League season, stating he was “very happy” with his achievements. He noted, “I’ve been showing the best version of myself.”

Scott, who was signed for £20 million from Bristol City last summer, had a productive 2023-24 season with Bournemouth. He made 27 appearances, scoring two goals and assisting four times, which led to his inclusion in the England under-21 squad. However, his progress was affected by two knee injuries, limiting him to 11 league starts as he competed with other midfielders in the squad.

Scott enjoyed a run of three consecutive starts in April and May, during which Bournemouth secured victories against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Regarding his increased playing time towards the end of the season, Scott spoke to the Daily Echo, saying, “Obviously I had a tough spell at the start of the year, around February and March.”

“I believe that since the Aston Villa game on April 21st, I’ve been showcasing my best self, whether coming off the bench or starting. I’m really pleased with how I ended this season, my first in the Premier League,” said the 20-year-old.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the experience despite the challenges with injuries. Coming back from them was tough, but I’ve relished every moment and I’m eager to kick on in my second year,” he added.

The Cherries kick off their Premier League campaign away at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, August 17th.
