UPDATE: Alex Cora provides updates on the injuries of Triston Casas and Vaughn Grissom

In Boston, manager Alex Cora provided updates on the injury statuses of Triston Casas and Vaughn Grissom. First baseman Triston Casas, who has been on the 60-day Injured List due to fractured cartilage connecting his ribcage to his sternum, recently began taking dry swings following a favorable MRI result showing healed ribcage. Despite progress, Cora indicated it’s unlikely Casas will return before the All-Star Break, with his last game played on April 20.

Meanwhile, second baseman Vaughn Grissom, sidelined since June 2 with a right hamstring strain, is undergoing cautious rehabilitation to strengthen both hamstrings. Although Grissom has shown improvement in mobility and recently ran the bases, there’s no set timeline for his return. His absence from spring training and subsequent setbacks necessitate a focused approach to ensure his readiness before returning to gameplay.

Additionally, Liam Hendriks, recovering from Tommy John surgery last August, continues his progression with recent bullpen sessions, aiming for a potential return in August. Meanwhile, Bryan Mata, Boston’s top pitching prospect, is slated for another rehab start after demonstrating promising fastball velocity despite ongoing work on his secondary pitches following injury setbacks earlier this season.
