According to a report, the Maple Leafs have made all players available for trade except for two.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are potentially undergoing significant changes for the next season, as reported by Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun. According to Simmons, except for Auston Matthews and William Nylander, the team has made all players available for trade.

After the Maple Leafs were eliminated by the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup playoffs’ first round, the management stated their readiness to consider all options. Most trade rumors involved Mitch Marner and John Tavares.

However, in Simmons’ recent article, he indicates that Toronto has explicitly communicated their openness to trade nearly anyone except Matthews and Nylander.

Simmons explains the team’s strategy: to create a more competitive playoff team, one that is tougher defensively and more consistent in goal. The objective is to enhance defensive capabilities and goaltending while striving for overall team improvement.

With the Maple Leafs currently allocating over $46 million in salary to their core forwards, including Matthews, Marner, Nylander, and Tavares, the team may seek to trade one or two of them. This could provide financial flexibility to invest in multiple players to strengthen their depth.
