Aston Villa hasn’t finalized their first summer signing yet, but it’s evident that Ross Barkley will be joining Villa Park for the upcoming season. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the deal is nearing completion.
During the 2020/21 season, Barkley made 24 appearances for Dean Smith’s Villa on loan from Chelsea. He scored three goals and provided one assist but struggled to secure a regular starting position and left at the end of the season.
Since then, the 30-year-old has experienced a rejuvenation, impressing with Luton Town over the past year. Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson even suggested that Barkley was close to being named Player of the Season for his performances in the Premier League.
